Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman is departing Dhaka on Tuesday (April 7) to attend the Indian Ocean Conference scheduled to be held in Mauritius from April 10 to 12.
En route to Mauritius, the Foreign Minister will make a brief stopover in New Delhi, where he is expected to hold courtesy meetings with India’s External Affairs Minister, National Security Adviser, and the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas.
According to a briefing by Foreign Ministry spokesperson S.M. Mahbubul Alam, discussions during the Delhi visit will focus on further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries, based on mutual trust and respect. The meetings will also explore ways to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of existing areas of cooperation.
Diplomatic observers view the visit as a potential opportunity to add a new dimension to Bangladesh-India relations. The upcoming conference in Mauritius is also expected to highlight regional cooperation and the strengthening of economic connectivity across the Indian Ocean region.
It is noted that the Foreign Minister is accompanied by Humayun Kabir, Adviser on Foreign Affairs to the Prime Minister.
