The arrests that originally started to catch so-called illegal immigrants in the United States have turned into widespread protests and violence. And these protests are no longer limited to California. They have spread to various states and cities in the country.
A BBC report said that as the protests in Los Angeles entered their fourth day, similar scenes were seen in various cities including Boston, Houston and Philadelphia.
The National Guard was deployed in Los Angeles on Sunday to prevent protests against Donald Trump’s immigration policy. However, California’s Democrat Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the move as “illegal” and demanded the immediate withdrawal of troops.
National Guard members took positions around the federal building on that day. Protesters clashed with police in various parts of the city. Police declared several rallies “illegal” after they were accused of throwing concrete and bottles during the protests.
