On the morning of October 13, at a press briefing held by the Information Office of China’s State Council in Beijing, import and export data for the first three quarters of 2025 were released.
According to Lv Daliang, spokesperson for China’s General Administration of Customs, from the perspective of trade partnerships, China’s imports and exports with countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) reached 17.37 trillion yuan in the first three quarters of this year — a 6.2% increase compared to the same period last year. This growth rate is 2.2 percentage points higher than China’s overall import and export growth during the same period.
In terms of imports, 64.6% of China’s bulk commodity imports and 69.1% of agricultural imports came from BRI partner countries. On the export side, China’s exports of electronic information products to BRI countries rose by 16.6%, high-end equipment by 37%, and wind turbines by 58%.
According to the latest data, China’s trade index with BRI countries has risen from 100 in 2013 to 198 in 2024.
