China Honors Workers on May Day

The 2026 International Labour Day celebrations, along with the National May Day Labour Medal awarding ceremony, were held on Tuesday, April 28, at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Wang Dongming, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress and Chairman of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, attended the event and delivered a speech.
In his address, Wang Dongming extended warm greetings and heartfelt respect to workers, farmers, intellectuals, and all working people of various ethnic groups across China on the occasion of Labour Day.
He noted that 2026 marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China and the first year of the 15th Five-Year Plan. He emphasized that trade unions at all levels should deeply understand and implement major decisions of the Party, faithfully perform their responsibilities, and ensure the effective execution of their duties.
During the ceremony, a total of 3,024 National May Day Labour Medals were awarded to outstanding workers and organizations.
