Principal Advisor to the Interim Government, Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, has called for establishing equality, justice and peace in society, seeking unity, solidarity and continuous progress of the Muslim Ummah.
In a message issued on Saturday on the occasion of the holy Ashura, he said, “The holy Ashura will give strength and courage to mankind for truth and justice against oppression and injustice. I pay my deepest respects to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the beloved grandson of the greatest Prophet and Messenger Hazrat Muhammad (PBUH), and all those who were tragically martyred in the desert of Karbala.”
He further said, “Islam is a religion of truth, justice and peace. In order to uphold this great ideal of Islam, Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), his family members and close companions were martyred in the desert of Karbala on 10th Muharram 61 AH at the hands of the soldiers of the traitor Yazid.”
The Chief Advisor mentioned, “This sacrifice of the brave soldiers of Islam by standing against the injustice and injustice of the tyrant will remain forever in the history of the world.”
In addition to the tragic incident of Karbala, Dr. Yunus mentioned that the holy Ashura is one of the most virtuous days in the history of Islam, saying, “Various significant events including the creation of the entire world took place on this day. It is narrated in the Hadith that the Prophet (PBUH) gave special importance to observing two fasts on the holy day of Ashura.”
He called upon people to keep the significance of this glorious day in mind and do more good deeds to attain closeness to Allah Almighty. At the same time, he wished for the unity, solidarity and progress of the Muslim Ummah on the holy day of Ashura, along with establishing equality, justice and peace in the society.
