Brunei High Commissioner pays courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs

The High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Bangladesh, Haji Haris Bin Othman, called on Shama Obaed Islam, MP, State Minister for Foreign Affairs, today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Both sides discussed particularly in the areas of manpower cooperation, trade and investment, energy cooperation, and air connectivity.

The State Minister expressed Bangladesh’s interest in facilitating the employment of more Bangladeshis in Brunei Darussalam. To further deepen trade and business relations, the State Minister underscored the importance of stronger business-to-business engagement, collaboration between women entrepreneurs, and the establishment of a Bangladesh–Brunei Chamber of Commerce. The High Commissioner welcomed these proposals and reaffirmed Brunei’s commitment to broadening trade and investment cooperation with Bangladesh. Bangladesh also sought greater market access for pharmaceuticals, jute products, agricultural products, and mangoes.

Both sides agreed to form joint business group comprising both Bangladesh and Brunei business chambers, entrepreneurs and investors to deepen the meaningful trade, commerce and investment outcomes of mutual benefits between the two countries.
