BGB stands by the helpless people affected by the cyclone in Satkhira to deal with the cyclone ‘Remal’.
BGB’s Neeldumur Battalion (17 BGB) has taken various public awareness and preventive measures in coordination with the local administration and public representatives of Satkhira.
In response to Cyclone ‘Remal’, BGB members made arrangements to protect the embankment by placing sandbags on the existing embankment in front of Nildumur Battalion and subordinate BOPs to prevent water ingress. As per the weather forecast and danger signals, miking has been done to discourage all fishing boats/trawlers from entering the river with a request to the public in the affected areas to evacuate to safe shelter. Besides, Nildumur BGB Government Primary School Shelter is providing safe shelter to the people of the affected area and providing first aid to more than 150 people sheltered there including providing cooked food, fresh water and dry food. Besides, dry food is being distributed to more than 350 needy people sheltered in Neeldumur Burigoalini Government Primary School Shelter and Neeldumur Bazar. At the same time, food is being served regularly to the volunteers who have come to deal with cyclone ‘Remal’.
Also, according to the instructions of the BGB headquarters, 03 platoon members of the BGB have been kept ready to assist the civil administration in times of emergency to deal with the cyclone ‘Remal’.
