The Bangladesh women’s football team has made a great start to the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers. In their first match in Yangon on Sunday, Peter James Butler’s team dominated the field with a 5-0 lead in the first half against a powerful Bahrain.
Bangladesh started the game in an aggressive mood from the start. Rituparna Chakma gave a glimpse of a goal with a long-range shot in the first minute. In the 10th minute, Shamsunnahar Junior’s chip shot gave the red-green team the lead. Then Rituparna doubled the lead with a left-footed curling shot in the 15th minute.
Even then, Bangladesh’s goal celebration did not stop. Kohati Kisku scored a goal in the 40th minute after receiving the ball from a corner. Tahura Khatun scored two more goals in the first half’s added time. One of them was a long-range shot, the other was a perfect finish on Shamsunnahar’s cutback.
Monica, Maria and Shamsunnahar Junior created a few more chances in the first half of the match, but they did not turn into goals. On the other hand, the first half was a bit lazy for goalkeeper Rupana Chakma, but in the 37th minute, she was alert and came outside the box to clear the danger.
Bangladesh’s women’s team scored five goals in the first 45 minutes to ensure a strong position in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers, breaking Bahrain’s defense.
