Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister Dr. Khalilur Rahman and State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam have expressed profound grief over the deaths of 16 Bangladeshi migrant workers in a devastating fire at a sofa manufacturing factory in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. They extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and assured them of the government’s full support during this difficult time.
In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the government deeply sympathizes with the families of the victims and stands ready to provide all necessary assistance.
The ministry said that immediately after receiving news of the incident, officials from the Embassy of Bangladesh in Riyadh rushed to the scene and established contact with the relevant Saudi authorities. The embassy is working closely with local officials to identify the victims, complete the required documentation, and expedite the repatriation of the bodies to Bangladesh.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs added that it is closely monitoring the situation following the tragedy. The ministry and the embassy are coordinating their efforts to provide necessary support to the affected families and all concerned.
