Bangladesh Association of Hong Kong’s New Executive Committee 2024-2026 Inducted

Hong Kong, September 14, 2024 —The Bangladesh Association of Hong Kong (BAHK) proudly hosted the 9th Executive Committee’s Introduction Ceremony, celebrating the vibrant Bangladeshi community in Hong Kong at the Blue Ocean Restaurant in Jordan, Hong Kong. The event was attended by approximately 250 community members and graced by numerous community leaders, highlighting the strong support and unity within the community.

Mr. Dr. Fakhrul Islam Babu, Cultural Secretary and Master of Ceremonies, warmly welcomed attendees and emphasized BAHK’s dedication since its establishment in 2003 to preserving and promoting Bangladesh’s rich traditions and fostering social harmony within the diverse Hong Kong community.

The ceremony was graced by the Chief Patron and Chief Guest, the Honorable Consul General of Bangladesh to Hong Kong, Ms. Israt Ara. Other distinguished guests included Mr. Derek, Hon. Consul of Sri Lanka to Hong Kong, District Councilors Mr. Benny, Mr. Alex Poon, and Ms. Aruna Gurung, as well as Mr. Nanu Lachman, President of the India Club, Mr. Saeed Uddin, Chairperson of the Islamic BOT, Ms. Rita Gurung, Chairperson of the Nepalese Federation, and Mr. CHAN, Service Head of the New Home Association.

Additional dignitaries included Consuls Mr. Kamrul Hasan, Mr. Zahidur Rahman, and Vice Consul Mr. Marzuk Islam, underscoring the spirit of unity and collaboration.

Outgoing President Mr. Syed M. Mohiuddin Mohi introduced the newly elected Executive Committee, led by President Ashfaqur Rahman Palash and General Secretary Khairul Islam Nizami. The new committee pledged to continue BAHK’s mission of cultural preservation, social integration, and community support through various programs and initiatives.

General Secretary Mr. Khairul Islam Nizami delivered a welcome speech, highlighting the association’s ongoing commitment to fostering community bonds and cultural exchange.

In recognition of their invaluable service, outgoing executive members received tokens of appreciation from the chief guest and other dignitaries. This gesture highlighted the commitment and voluntary contributions of all members.

The ceremony featured speeches from key figures, including the Honorable Consul General Ms. Israt Ara, who praised BAHK’s efforts in promoting cultural exchange and strengthening community ties. The newly elected President, Mr. Ashfaqur Rahman, concluded the event with a heartfelt address, expressing gratitude and outlining future goals for the association.
