Ambassador of Egypt paid his introductory courtesy call on Foreign Secretary

Ambassador of Egypt H.E. Mr. Omar Mohie Eldin Ahmed Fahmy paid his introductory courtesy call on Foreign Secretary Ambassador Md. Jashim Uddin at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this afternoon.

Thanking the Egyptian Government for their support to the Interim Government, Foreign Secretary underscored the excellent relationship the two countries enjoy in bilateral as well as multilateral settings. Foreign Secretary underlined that the present Government is committed to bring sustainable changes and reforms for inclusive democracy. He mentioned that the Government formed ten Reform Commissions to reflect the demand of a discrimination-free society as the student led mass uprising aspired for.

Highlighting the celebration of the fifty years anniversary of diplomatic relationship between Bangladesh and Egypt, Ambassador expressed his commitment to further deepen the relationship particularly through enhancing trade and commerce. He informed that Egypt would host the D-8 Summit on 16-19 December 2024 in Cairo and expected high level participation at the Summit.

Both sides shared optimism about the future of bilateral relations, and increased collaboration through political consultation in the coming years.

Foreign Secretary assured the Ambassador of full cooperation during his tenure of duty in Bangladesh.
