600 Foreign Nationals Leave Iran for Azerbaijan

The Iran-Israel conflict is becoming increasingly serious. Due to this, panic has spread throughout Iran. Attacks and counterattacks have been going on for five consecutive days. As of the time of writing, 600 foreign nationals have fled to neighboring Azerbaijan in search of safe haven.

In a statement given to the French-based news agency AFP, an Azerbaijani government official who did not wish to be named said that more than 600 citizens from 17 countries have entered Azerbaijan from Iran since the start of military tensions between Israel and Iran.

These foreign nationals are entering Azerbaijan from Iran through the Astara checkpoint on the coast of the Caspian Sea. From there, they are being taken to Baku Airport in the Azerbaijani capital and sent to their respective countries on international flights.

Azerbaijani government sources said that those who left Iran included citizens of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Germany, Spain, Italy, Serbia, Romania, Portugal, the United States, the United Arab Emirates, China, and Vietnam.
