14 killed in Russian strikes in Kiev

A wave of Russian drones and missiles hit several districts of the Ukrainian capital Kiev early on Tuesday. Reuters witnesses said the drones flew over the capital and they could hear what sounded like missiles. The airstrike warning remained in effect more than seven hours after it was issued.

The attack damaged an apartment building, killing at least 14 people and wounding 44 others in overnight Russian strikes, Ukrainian Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko confirmed on Tuesday. He said in a message on Telegram that the strikes had severely damaged residential buildings, educational institutions and vital infrastructure in Kiev.

Local authorities said rescue teams had been working through the night to rescue people trapped under the rubble. The strikes cut off power and water supplies to several areas. The attacks were the latest violence in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, which is once again taking a heavy toll on civilians.
