13th China International Folk Arts Festival Brings Global Artists Together

The 13th China International Folk Arts Festival, organized by the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, began last Thursday evening in Foshan City, Guangdong Province. More than 500 performers from 13 countries across five continents, along with Chinese art troupes, delivered spectacular performances together.

The festival opened with Cantonese opera and traditional Chinese dance. Following that, performers from New Zealand’s Maori Haka, Western dances from the United States, and Georgian folk dances, among others, showcased the richness and diversity of world civilizations.

This year’s festival theme is: “Crossing Mountains and Seas, Welcoming the Future Together.” Throughout the festival, activities will include parades, cultural tours at grassroots levels, and performances by domestic and international artists. Participating art troupes will visit cities such as Dongguan, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen, exchanging artistic techniques, learning from each other, and building bridges of cultural exchange and friendship between China and other countries.
