Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is set to meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington next Monday. The meeting’s main agenda will focus on ending indiscriminate killings and bringing the war to a close, according to French news agency AFP.
In a statement in Kyiv on Saturday, Zelensky said, “I will meet President Trump in Washington next Monday to discuss all matters related to ending the war and stopping the killings. I am grateful for the invitation.”
Earlier, Zelensky revealed that during an extended phone conversation with Trump, he was briefed on the key issues discussed at the Alaska meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Trump-Zelensky meeting comes just three days after the Trump-Putin summit in Alaska concluded without any agreement.
Meanwhile, the day after the U.S.-Russia high-level talks, Zelensky called on his European allies to remain actively engaged at every stage of the negotiations.
