On the occasion of International Workers’ Day on May 1, Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC), Chinese President, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission, extended sincere greetings to working people across the country on behalf of the CPC Central Committee. In his message, Xi stated that on the new journey toward Chinese-style modernisation, working people across the nation remain closely united around the Communist Party of China.
He called on workers to move forward through hard work, courageously pursue innovation and creativity, and make significant contributions to the development of the Party and the country. Xi Jinping emphasised that this year marks the 105th anniversary of the founding of the CPC and the opening year of China’s 15th Five-Year Plan. He expressed hope that working people nationwide would continue to uphold the spirit of model workers, the spirit of labour, and the spirit of craftsmanship,
while serving as a major driving force behind the country’s high-quality economic development. The Chinese leader also said that Party committees and governments at all levels should effectively safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of workers. He urged authorities to focus on resolving urgent, difficult, and critical issues affecting working people and to inspire and motivate the broader workforce to strive tirelessly toward achieving the nation’s major development goals. Observers say China is increasingly placing emphasis on labour productivity, skilled craftsmanship, and innovation as central pillars of its long-term modernisation and economic transformation strategy.
