Chinese President Xi Jinping on Monday sent a congratulatory message marking the official establishment of the World Data Organization (WDO) in Beijing. In his message, he described today’s world as a rapidly evolving “age of intelligence” and underscored the increasingly pivotal role of data as a driving force behind innovation.
President Xi noted that the core mission of the WDO is to “bridge data divides, unlock the true value of data, and foster the growth of the digital economy.” He emphasized that the organization will serve as an effective platform for strengthening international cooperation and enhancing global data governance.
Xi further stressed that China is committed to working with all parties to build consensus on international data governance frameworks based on the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution, and shared benefits. He highlighted the importance of jointly promoting innovation in digital and intelligent technologies, facilitating the secure and orderly flow of data, and advancing its efficient development and utilization.
Such efforts, he added, will contribute to the sound development of the global digital economy and ensure that the benefits of data-driven progress are shared more broadly, bringing greater well-being to people around the world.
