World’s Largest Democratic Election to Be Held in Bangladesh: German Ambassador

German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Rüdiger Lotz has described the upcoming national election in Bangladesh as the largest democratic election in the world. He stated that next year’s election will allow nearly 127 million voters to exercise their democratic rights.

Speaking to reporters after a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) A.M.M. Nasir Uddin at the Election Commission headquarters in Agargaon on Thursday afternoon, Ambassador Lotz said,
“We have had a very productive discussion with the Election Commission. Next year, the world’s largest democratic election will take place in Bangladesh. This election is not only crucial for Bangladesh but also a significant step for democracy in Asia and across the globe.”

Ambassador Lotz further noted,
“This election could mark a moment of democratic renewal for Bangladesh. It is more than a national political process—it represents an important milestone for regional and global democratic values.”

Praising the Election Commission’s preparations, he said,
“The Commission is making remarkable progress in tackling this enormous challenge. I wish them every success and extend my best wishes to the people of Bangladesh for their active participation in this democratic process.”

In response to a journalist’s question, Ambassador Lotz added,
“We hope for a credible and participatory election—one in which multiple political parties can compete freely. An open and inclusive election will further strengthen Bangladesh’s democracy.”
