Winter Blanket Distribution Program Held in Jhakunipara, Cumilla

Cumilla | January 18, 2026-A winter blanket distribution program was successfully organized in Jhakunipara, a border area of Cumilla, to support underprivileged and vulnerable communities during the ongoing cold season.

The humanitarian initiative was organized by the China Bangladesh Friendship Center, with the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation acting as the event partner. The program aimed to provide much-needed winter relief to disadvantaged families living in remote and border regions of Bangladesh.

Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Babu, President of the China Bangladesh Friendship Center and Chairperson of the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation, highlighted the moral responsibility of standing beside marginalized communities.
“Winter becomes extremely harsh for people living in border and rural areas. As a society, it is our duty to ensure that no one is left behind in times of hardship. Through collaborative efforts, we can bring warmth, dignity, and hope to those who need it most,” he said.

Md Saddam Hossain Roni was present at the event along with four other youth representatives from both organizations. He attended the program in his capacity as the Social Welfare Secretary of the China Bangladesh Friendship Center and the Secretary General of the Dr. Muhammad Fakhrul Islam Foundation. The youth representatives actively took part in the blanket distribution and engaged directly with local residents.

Speaking at the event, Md Saddam Hossain Roni emphasized the role of youth in social welfare initiatives.
“Humanitarian work is not only about providing materials; it is about showing empathy and standing beside people with respect. When young people come forward to serve communities in need, it builds a stronger and more compassionate society,” he said.
Local beneficiaries expressed sincere gratitude for the timely assistance, noting that such initiatives play a vital role in reducing winter-related suffering in remote and underserved areas.

The organizers stated that both organizations remain committed to continuing collaborative social welfare activities in the future, with a strong focus on reaching marginalized, rural, and border communities across the country.
