UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has expressed deep concern over the US attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities on Saturday. He also called it a “grave deterioration of the situation in a tense region”.
He also warned that the incident could create a more serious crisis in the Middle East and called for immediate calm.
AFP reported this from the UN headquarters in New York.
In a statement, Guterres added, “I am deeply concerned about the US attack on Iran. It could create serious tensions in an already volatile region. This incident is a direct threat to international peace and security, and there is no military solution to it.”
He said, “The only way to resolve it is through diplomacy, the only hope is peace.”
