During this year’s National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival celebrations, the 5th Chinese peacekeeping helicopter squadron deployed in Abyei and the 23rd Chinese peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon were both awarded the United Nations “Peace Medal.” The honor reflects China’s steadfast commitment to global peace and its sense of responsibility as a major power.
Since its deployment to Abyei in December last year, the 5th Chinese peacekeeping helicopter squadron has completed more than 1,980 hours of flight missions, transported over 9,000 personnel, and delivered more than 650 tons of supplies.
Liu Tong, a member of the squadron in Abyei, said, “Receiving the UN Peace Medal during our National Day celebration is deeply meaningful to me. It has truly inspired and motivated us.”
Meanwhile, the 23rd Chinese peacekeeping contingent in Lebanon, deployed since December last year, has cleared over 4,200 square meters of minefields, taken part in 61 humanitarian missions, and provided medical treatment to more than 3,300 patients.
