United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has strongly condemned a deadly attack on the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), in which one French peacekeeper was killed and three others injured.
In a post on social media platform X, Guterres expressed his deep condolences to the family, friends, and colleagues of the deceased peacekeeper, and wished a swift and full recovery for those injured.
He noted that this was the third such attack in recent weeks targeting peacekeepers serving in Lebanon.
The UN chief stressed that such attacks must come to an end and called on all parties concerned to fully respect and uphold the ceasefire and conflict cessation agreements.
