Ukraine Claims ‘Flamingo’ Missile Strike on Russian Defense Plant

Ukraine has claimed to have carried out a successful long-range strike using its domestically developed “Flamingo” missile against one of Russia’s key defense manufacturing facilities in the Volgograd region. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said the overnight attack triggered a major fire at the Titan-Barrikady defense plant.

In a statement issued on Saturday, Zelenskyy said the factory manufactures artillery shells, rockets, and critical components for missile launch systems. He claimed the strike caused significant damage to the facility’s operations. Russia had not immediately commented on the claim.

At the same time, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) reportedly launched a drone strike on the Vtorovo oil pumping station in Russia’s Vladimir region. It was the second reported attack this month on the strategically important energy facility, which serves as a key logistics hub for Russia’s domestic fuel distribution and oil exports.

Welcoming the operations, Zelenskyy said sustained pressure on Russia’s military and energy infrastructure would help pave the way for a “just and dignified peace” in the future.

According to Kyiv, the recent escalation in attacks on Russian oil refineries, weapons factories, and military installations is a response to Moscow’s continued missile and drone strikes on Ukrainian cities, including the capital, Kyiv.

Now in its fifth year, the war continues along a front line stretching roughly 1,200 kilometers, with daily fighting reported across multiple sectors. Ukraine says Russia launches hundreds of drones and missiles almost every night, frequently targeting civilian infrastructure.

Meanwhile, Ukraine’s state-owned energy company Naftogaz said repeated Russian drone and missile attacks over the past two days had severely damaged several of its production facilities in the northeastern Poltava and Kharkiv regions.

Zelenskyy also said Russia launched nearly 1,400 drones and 19 missiles across 15 Ukrainian regions over the past week. He stressed that strengthening Ukraine’s air defense capabilities and expanding cooperation with allied nations on drone technology and defense systems remain among Kyiv’s top priorities.
