Turkmenistan invites high level Bangladesh delegation to visit Turkmenistan

A delegation from Bangladesh led by Ambassador Dr. M. Nazrul Islam, Secretary Bilateral, Ministry of Foreign Affairs had a meeting with Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on 15 August in Ashgabat.
Bangladesh delegation and the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan emphasized on deepening and widening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries.

The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov congratulated his Bangladesh counterpart Dr. Khalilur Rahman for being elected as the President of the 81st Session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). He also extended his invitation to Bangladesh Foreign Minister to visit Turkmenistan at an earliest convenience and expressed his readiness to visit the brotherly country Bangladesh in near future. He emphasized the importance of exchange of high-level visits including the highest-levels between Bangladesh and Turkmenistan for strengthening bilateral relations.

Bangladesh delegation expressed gratitude to Turkmenistan for their support for the Bangladesh’s candidature for the presidency 81st Session of United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and Bangladesh delegation agreed to deepen coordination on regional and global issues and support each other across international platforms, including at the UN, OIC and NAM.

The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan and Bangladesh delegation further stressed on result oriented and pragmatic initiative in bilateral engagements and referred to the tentative “Action Plan:2027-2029” as was discussed in the consultation on the same day (15 August 2026) to deepen cooperation in trade, economic, and investment, cooperation and collaboration in energy, food, and climate security, people to people connectivity, cooperation in culture, education and sports, exchanges of students, youths, researchers, academics, tourists, and cultural troupes between Bangladesh and Turkmenistan.

Ahmet Gurbanov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, M. Amanul Haq, Bangladesh Ambassador to Turkey, S. M. Mahbubul Alam, Director General (East Europe & CIS), Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka, and Gurbandurdy Saparov, Director of Asia-Pacific Department of Ministry of Foreign Affairs among others were present during the meeting.
