Awami League joint general secretary and foreign minister. Hashan Mahmud said, Sheikh Hasina is the alternative to Sheikh Hasina to take the country further. On May 17, 1981, the people’s leader Sheikh Hasina ignored all the bloodshed and returned to the country and reorganized the Awami League, as well as taking the country forward wonderfully and occupying a seat of unique status in the court of the world.
He said this in the speech of the chief guest at the ’17 May 1981 Bangabandhu daughter Sheikh Hasina’s Homecoming Day Celebration’ at the National Press Club at Topkhana Road in the capital on Thursday afternoon.
Dr. Hasan said, ‘People’s leader Sheikh Hasina was assassinated about 19 times. But he was not dismayed even after repeatedly returning from the valley of death. He faced death, walked with his life in hand but never deviated from the caravan of struggle for people’s rights.’
Looking at history, Hashan Mahmud, who was injured in the grenade attack on August 21, said, ‘An attempt was made to kill Sheikh Hasina on January 24, 1988 by hunting people like birds in Chittagong. I was at the front of that procession that day. An attempt was made to assassinate him by burying an 81 kg bomb in Kotalipara and hurling grenades like rain on Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka on 21 August 2004. But after coming back from the door of death, the public leader Bangabandhukanya was never disturbed.
At that time, Foreign Minister Hasan said about the politics of BNP, that after the visit of the Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia to Dhaka, the leaders of BNP have become worse. They tried a lot to meet. But the US has signaled it wants to deepen the relationship and move it forward. Because of this, BNP has lost its head now.
He said, ‘Earlier I used to see two leaders talking abol-tabol after losing their minds. Now the senior leaders are also losing their minds. Their anti-national conspiracy has not gained any benefit, but the way they are following the conspiracy to stay out of the election is becoming the sky for BNP. If he stays that way, he will disappear in time.’
