Dhaka, 28 October 2026:State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ms. Shama Obaed Islam, MP, met Mr. Francisco de la Torre Prados, Mayor of Málaga, Spain at the Mayor’s Office earlier today (27 October). During the discussion, the State Minister apprised Bangladesh’s democratic journey and appreciated the support of EU member States including Spain in this process.
The discussions focused on strengthening cooperation with Spain with particular focus on Malaga. The meeting also explored probable broad areas of engagement including agriculture, ICT, skills development, student exchange programmes, trade, cultural exchange, collaboration between universities, tourism, and creative economy.
The Mayor appreciated Bangladesh’s generous hosting of 1.3 Million Rogingyas and hoped for an early and durale solution of this crisis. Both sides further expressed eagerness for future engagements among relevant authorities of Bangladesh and Municipal Government authorities of Malaga.
