The 10th Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states was held on July 29 (Wednesday) in Kunming, Yunnan Province, China.
Held under the theme “Strengthening Agricultural Policy Exchange and Building a Close and Advanced SCO Agricultural Cooperation Community”, the meeting emphasized rural development, poverty alleviation cooperation, and scientific and technological exchange.
Han Changfu, China’s Minister of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, noted that since the establishment of the SCO agricultural ministers’ meeting mechanism, agricultural cooperation among member states has steadily advanced over the past 15 years. Scientific and technological exchanges have flourished, agricultural trade has seen rapid growth, and investment cooperation has become increasingly dynamic. He stressed that these developments have laid a solid foundation and opened up vast opportunities for deepening practical agricultural collaboration.
Minister Han affirmed China’s willingness to work alongside all member states to further unlock the potential of agricultural cooperation and jointly write a new chapter in SCO agricultural collaboration.
Participants expressed optimism about strengthening the SCO agricultural ministerial mechanism and promoting regional agricultural modernization and rural prosperity through mutual learning and shared benefits.
The meeting concluded with the review and adoption of the Joint Statement of the 10th Meeting of Agriculture Ministers of SCO Member States.
