Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent Christmas greetings and a congratulatory message to former U.S. President Donald Trump, the Kremlin said.
Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the matter on Thursday (December 25), stating that President Putin conveyed Christmas wishes to Trump and sent him a message of goodwill.
However, Peskov clarified that there was no possibility of a phone conversation between the two leaders on the same day. He said that no call between Putin and Trump was scheduled for Thursday.
Earlier, on Sunday local time, the Kremlin had announced that it would send New Year and Christmas greetings to U.S. President Donald Trump. Speaking to journalists, Yuri Ushakov, an aide to President Putin, said that greetings would be extended to Trump on the occasion of Christmas and the New Year. He also expressed hope that all parties involved in the ongoing Ukraine peace talks would adhere to the agreements reached.
