One Crew Member Killed After Bomb-Laden Boat Strikes Oil Tanker Off Oman Coast

An oil tanker sailing 52 nautical miles off the coast of Muscat, Oman, came under attack from a boat laden with explosives, killing one crew member, according to the Omani Maritime Security Centre (MSC).

In a statement posted on its X account, the MSC said the attack triggered a fire and subsequent explosion in the vessel’s engine room. While one crew member was confirmed dead, the remaining 21 crew members were safely evacuated.

A vessel from the Royal Navy of Oman is currently monitoring the condition of the damaged tanker. Authorities have also issued a navigational alert for ships operating in the surrounding waters.
