The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change conducted two separate mobile court drives in Dhanmondi and Badda areas of Dhaka to control air pollution.
The drives were led by Siddhartha Shankar Kundu, Deputy Secretary and Executive Magistrate, and Sadia Islam Luna, Senior Assistant Secretary and Executive Magistrate.
In Dhanmondi Road No. 2, a mobile court led by Deputy Secretary Siddhartha Shankar Kundu fined the authorities of an under-construction building opposite City College, adjacent to Popular Diagnostic Centre, for violating the Air Pollution (Control) Rules, 2022 by keeping construction materials in open spaces. A fine of Tk. 10,000 was imposed and they were ordered to remove the materials within two hours. Several other establishments were also warned.
On the same day, a mobile court drive was conducted in Aftabnagar, Badda, led by Senior Assistant Secretary Sadia Islam Luna. Authorities of six under-construction buildings were fined a total of Tk. 35,000 for similar violations, and several other entities were cautioned.
The Ministry will continue conducting regular mobile court drives to enforce legal measures in controlling air pollution.
