Despite a ceasefire appeal by U.S. President Donald Trump, Israeli forces continue their bombing campaign in Gaza, claiming the lives of at least 100 more Palestinians. Trump recently urged the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to halt the attacks. As part of his proposed ceasefire plan, Hamas agreed last Friday to release all prisoners.
However, the skies over the Gaza Strip remain plagued by explosions. Although renewed ceasefire discussions began in Egypt on Monday, reports continue of Israeli attacks on residential buildings, refugee camps, and relief centers. Local residents in Gaza City, particularly in Al-Jalla and surrounding areas, reported that houses were destroyed by explosive barrels dropped from remote-controlled drones.
According to the Gaza-based official media office, at least 94 people were killed over the weekend, with an additional seven deaths reported on Monday morning. The agency noted that in the past two days, Israeli forces conducted 131 air and artillery strikes in densely populated areas.
The ongoing aggression has so far resulted in the deaths of at least 67,160 Palestinians, with nearly 169,679 injured. More than two million people are currently facing severe shortages of food and shelter.
