An Israeli airstrike targeting a petrochemical complex in Iran’s South Pars gas field has further intensified tensions in the Middle East, raising concerns over the security of critical energy infrastructure in the region.

Al-Ansari emphasized that the targeted South Pars gas field is geologically connected to Qatar’s North Field, the world’s largest natural gas reserve shared between the two countries. He cautioned that any attack on such vital energy infrastructure poses significant risks not only to regional security but also to global energy supplies and the environment.
Doha called on all parties to exercise restraint and adhere to international law, stressing the urgent need for diplomatic efforts to de-escalate the situation.
South Pars, jointly exploited by Iran and Qatar, is considered the largest natural gas field in the world. The strike on such a strategically important site has heightened international concern, as fears grow over the potential for further escalation and its broader impact on global energy markets.
