Iran has warned that any facility providing support to the US aircraft carrier USS Gerald R. Ford could be considered a legitimate target for Iranian military strikes.
The warning was issued on Sunday by a spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters. The official said the presence of the US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea poses a threat to Iran.
According to the spokesperson, any bases or facilities offering logistical or other forms of assistance to the USS Gerald R. Ford in the Red Sea would be regarded as potential targets by Iran’s armed forces.
“The centers that provide logistical and other support to the US aircraft carrier in the Red Sea will be considered targets for Iranian military operations,” the spokesperson stated.
Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters operates under the General Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces. The body is responsible for planning and coordinating joint military operations involving different branches of Iran’s armed forces.
The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the region, with increased military presence and ongoing geopolitical rivalries raising concerns over a broader escalation.
