Indiscriminate Use of Force Is Unacceptable Under Any Circumstances: Wang Yi

The indiscriminate use of force is unacceptable under any circumstances, regardless of the justifications offered, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said, strongly condemning attacks on innocent civilians and civilian infrastructure.

Wang, a Member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and China’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, made the remarks during a telephone conversation with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on Wednesday.

During the call, the Saudi foreign minister briefed Wang Yi on the latest developments in the Middle East. He stated that Saudi Arabia does not wish to see the conflict spread across the region, but expressed deep concern that the ongoing hostilities appear to be gradually expanding, with signs of further escalation emerging.

Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud also noted that Saudi Arabia is ready to strengthen communication and coordination with China in order to promote peace in the Middle East, bring an end to the war, and restore regional stability.

Wang Yi, for his part, said China does not want to see the conflict in the Middle East continue to escalate or spread further, especially as its growing intensity is now affecting Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries.
