Chinese President Xi Jinping has expressed grief over the sudden death of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash on May 20. He expressed deep grief in a message sent to Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber on Monday.

In the message, he expressed his sincere condolences on behalf of the Chinese government and people, to First Vice President Mohammad Mokhber, the relatives of President Raisi, and the Iranian government and people.

Xi Jinping said in a condolence message that since Ibrahim Raisi took office as president, Iran has moved forward rapidly on the path of security, stability, development and prosperity. He also played a positive role in the further development of the Iran-China Comprehensive Strategic Partnership relationship.

His death is a great loss to the Iranian people; The Chinese people also lost a close friend.
