Kolkata, Monday: The Regional Director of the Alipore Meteorological Department, Habibur Rahman Biswas, announced on Monday afternoon that under the influence of the cyclone, several districts of West Bengal are likely to experience gusty winds and rainfall from Tuesday through Friday.
According to the forecast, the northern districts — Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri — are expected to witness heavy to very heavy rainfall, while southern Bengal districts may experience light to moderate showers. Authorities have issued warnings for possible landslides and waterlogging in low-lying areas and have prohibited fishermen from venturing into the sea during this period.
In Kolkata, the sky will remain cloudy with chances of rain from Tuesday to Friday. The city may experience light rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning on Wednesday and Thursday, along with gusty winds, the official added.
