There was fresh exchange of fire between Indian and Pakistani troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir on Tuesday night (April 29). However, there were no reports of casualties.
This led to six consecutive nights of gunfire between Indian and Pakistani troops on the Kashmir border, Indian media outlet NDTV reported on Wednesday (April 30).
However, while the Indian media has always blamed Pakistan for the firing, no information has been received from Pakistan or the country’s media regarding this yet.
The Indian Army has reported heavy firing from Pakistan along the International Border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pargwal sector, NDTV reports. The firing is claimed to be Pakistan’s biggest ceasefire violation since 26 people were killed in Pahalgam.
India has claimed that Pakistan has been unilaterally firing across the Line of Control (LoC) in three key sectors of the Jammu region for the past six nights. The Indian Army said that Indian forces have given a “effective response” at each location.
The firing comes days after a horrific terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed 26 people, the worst in Kashmir since the Pulwama attack in 2019.
Earlier, on Thursday night, the first exchange of fire took place between the armies of the two countries along the Line of Control in Kashmir. Tensions between India and Pakistan have reached a peak following a recent attack by gunmen on tourists in occupied Kashmir.
Meanwhile, diplomatic relations between India and Pakistan have reached a low point due to the horrific attack in Pahalgam. India has suspended the important Indus Waters Treaty between the two countries. In response, Pakistan has announced the suspension of the Shimla Agreement and the closure of its airspace for Indian aircraft.
Moreover, after the attack, both countries canceled the visas of citizens of neighboring countries and ordered them to return within 48 hours. As a result, citizens of India and Pakistan began returning to their respective countries.
