Government is committed to take the country’s labor law to criteria: chief adviser

The chief adviser to the interim government. Muhammad Yunus said the interim government is committed to implementing important labor reforms to take the country’s labor law to the ILO standards.

He said this while meeting with the leaders of ‘Deal’, working for the development of labor security at the call factory of Bangladesh in the state guest building Jamuna on Wednesday (February 7th).

The chief adviser told the officials that the interim government is committed to implementing the important labor reforms to take the country’s labor law to the ILO standards. We have already taken some steps, that the results will be available very soon.

Lutfi Siddiqui, the special envoy to the chief adviser, said the interim government has already signed a five -point agreement with labor organizations and manufacturers, which has brought stability to the sector and helped increase the export of clothing.

Chairman Simon Sultana thanked the chief adviser for the renovation initiative in the garment industry.  The delegation was led by Simon Sultana, chairman of the group and Tapan Chowdhury, independent director of the group. Representatives from top Western brands and retailers also attended the meeting.

SDG Senior Secretary Lamia Morshed and Chairman of Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Chowdhury Ashiq Mahmud bin Harun were present on the occasion.
