Calling for an immediate ceasefire, Pope Leo, the highest religious leader of Catholic Christians, said that the cries of children and parents who are victims of the attack in Gaza are reaching heaven.
He made these comments at a meeting in St. Peter’s Square on Wednesday about the ongoing Israeli aggression in Gaza.
The Pope also called for “full respect” for international law.
He said that the cries of parents holding the bodies of their dead children in the Gaza Strip are gradually reaching heaven.
He also said, “My request to those responsible is to stop the fighting and arrange for the release of all hostages. Respect humanitarian law.”
Pope Leo was elected on May 8 and succeeded Pope Francis. At the meeting, he also appealed for an end to the war in Ukraine. Source: Reuters, Vatican News
