Secretary of the Ministry of Water Resources Nazmul Ahsan said that the people who are in danger of sudden floods should be provided maximum services. Necessary facilities should be ensured in shelter camps. He warned that exemplary legal action will be taken subject to investigation if any negligence is shown in mitigating the suffering of people due to floods or any complaint is made against any official. He gave instructions to the officials of the departments under the Ministry of Water Resources to work in coordination with the students, the army, and the local administration.
The Secretary of Water Resources said these things in the president’s speech at the emergency preparatory meeting held at the Ministry of Water Resources on Thursday.
The Secretary of Water Resources said that adequate boat arrangements should be made to rescue the flood-affected people, and boats should be hired if necessary. The power of youth should be used. Local level people should work round the clock as advised. He inquired about the overall flood situation from the executive engineers of the flood-affected areas at the field level and directed them to take necessary measures to deal with the flood.
Officials of Ministry of Water Resources and Water Development Board participated in the meeting. The senior officials of the board and the officials of the flood affected areas were connected virtually.
