Dream Fulfilled in 80 Days of Cycling: A Xinjiang Girl and Her Mother Reach Tiananmen

On October 1, a grand national flag-raising ceremony was held at Tiananmen Square in Beijing, drawing people from across China. Among the crowd were a girl and her mother from Aksu, Xinjiang, who had arrived there after an 80-day-long bicycle journey to witness the meaningful event on National Day.

Mu Yasar, a high school student from Wushi County, Xinjiang, said,

“As a Chinese, I feel deeply excited and proud to be part of this great flag-raising ceremony. My mother wanted to help me strengthen my willpower, and it has always been my dream to see the national flag raised at Tiananmen. That’s why we decided to cycle all the way here.”

It was their first visit to Beijing. During the journey, they not only witnessed China’s vast and beautiful landscapes but also experienced the kindness and support of many people along the way.

Mu recalled,

“Once, our bicycle tire broke. With no other option, we posted a video online asking for help. A kind man from Xinjiang drove his truck to pick us up and took us and our bikes to a repair shop.”

After cycling for more than 80 days, they finally arrived in Beijing on September 28.

“Throughout the journey, I truly felt the prosperity and greatness of our motherland,” she said.

On the evening of September 30, she and her mother came to Tiananmen Square to wait for the grand moment of the flag-raising ceremony.

“I feel very happy,” she said with a smile. “I hope our motherland becomes ever more prosperous.”
