The five-day-long 28th Shanghai International Film Festival (SIFF) concluded on Sunday, drawing to a close a vibrant celebration of global cinema marked by wide international participation, cultural programs, and enthusiastic audiences.
This year’s festival featured more than 420 films from 77 countries and regions. Over 1,600 screenings were held across various venues throughout the city, creating a rich cinematic experience for film lovers.
The event attracted more than 450,000 attendees, while total box office revenue reached approximately 38 million yuan (about 5.61 million U.S. dollars), reflecting the festival’s strong public appeal and commercial success.
Key highlights of the festival included the prestigious Golden Goblet Awards ceremony and the China Film and TV Night, both of which drew significant attention from industry professionals and audiences alike.
Beyond film screenings, SIFF transformed Shanghai into a vibrant cultural hub. Movie enthusiasts had the opportunity not only to watch films but also to collect film-related memorabilia, enjoy special exhibitions, and explore open-air cultural markets dedicated to cinema and creative arts.
Organizers emphasized that the Shanghai International Film Festival continues to play a vital role in promoting international cultural exchange and supporting the development of the global film industry.
