Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Urges Vigilance Against Misinformation and Disinformation in the Aviation Sector

Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister, Afroza Khanam, MP, today called upon all stakeholders to remain vigilant against misinformation and disinformation targeting the country’s aviation sector and government institutions.

The Minister made the remarks while attending (as the Chief Guest) the inauguration of a Free Medical Camp and Blood Donation Programme organized at the Harijan Palli area of Old Launch Ghat in Manikganj town, marking the 45th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman.

In her address, the Minister stated that since assuming office, one of her foremost priorities has been to ensure improved, safe, and harassment-free services for expatriate Bangladeshis and all air travelers. She noted that the Government has been implementing a series of initiatives aimed at modernizing airport services, enhancing operational efficiency, and creating a more passenger-friendly environment across the country’s airports.

Referring to recent incidents of misleading information circulated on various platforms, the Minister said that certain quarters are attempting to tarnish the image of the Government and its institutions through the misuse of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology and the dissemination of false or distorted information.

She urged citizens to exercise caution, verify information from credible sources, and refrain from sharing unverified content that may contribute to confusion or misinformation.

The Minister further emphasized that the Government attaches the highest importance to strengthening the national flag carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and transforming it into a trusted, efficient, and internationally reputed legacy airline. She expressed optimism that the ongoing reform and development initiatives in the aviation sector will further improve service quality and deliver tangible benefits to passengers, including expatriate Bangladeshis.

The event was attended by physicians from various levels in Manikganj, as well as leaders and members of the BNP and its affiliated organizations.
