Citizens of 12 countries banned from entering the United States

On Wednesday, US President Donald Trump signed a proclamation banning citizens of 12 countries from entering the United States. In which he said that this step is necessary to protect America from foreign terrorists and other security threats.

The countries covered by the new ban are Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen.

Trump said, we will not allow people who want to harm us to enter our country. He said that the list can be revised and new countries can be added.

The declaration will take effect from 12:01 pm on June 9, 2025. The order states that visas issued before that date will not be canceled.

During his first term, Trump banned travelers from seven Muslim-majority countries.

Trump’s successor, Democratic President Joe Biden, lifted the ban in 2021. He called it a “stain on our national conscience.”

The BBC reported that 10 of the 19 countries on the ban are African. Citizens of these 12 countries – Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen – have been completely restricted and restricted from entering the United States.
