Chinese Vice Premier Visits Turkmenistan

Ding Xuexiang, Special Representative of Chinese President Xi Jinping and Vice Premier of China, paid an official visit to Turkmenistan from April 15 to 17. During the visit, he attended the inauguration ceremony of the fourth phase of the Fuxing Gas Field Project. He also held separate meetings with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the People’s Council of Turkmenistan, and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. In addition, Ding co-chaired the seventh meeting of the China–Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee alongside Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Ding noted that leaders of both countries hold high expectations for the project, describing it as a reflection of the shared aspirations of their peoples. He emphasized that the initiative would further strengthen bilateral energy cooperation. In his meetings with Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, Ding stated that under the strategic guidance of the two nations’ leaders, bilateral relations have maintained rapid and steady growth, evolving from a friendly cooperative partnership into a comprehensive strategic partnership. At the seventh meeting of the China–Turkmenistan Cooperation Committee, Ding exchanged views with the Turkmen Foreign Minister and outlined plans for the next phase of cooperation. The two sides also signed a series of cooperation documents covering the establishment of cultural centers in each other’s countries, as well as collaboration in artificial intelligence, transportation, traditional medicine, and pharmaceuticals.
