Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with Hanafy Ali Gebaly, Speaker of Egypt’s House of Representatives, in Cairo on 9 July.
During the meeting, Li Qiang stated that ever since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Egypt, the traditional friendship between the two countries has remained unchanged despite changes in the international situation, and that bilateral relations and cooperation have been gaining momentum, demonstrating strong internal dynamism. China is willing to further promote its traditional friendship with Egypt, enhance mutual political trust, firmly support each other’s core interests and major concerns, continuously elevate bilateral relations to new levels, and achieve more fruitful results in bilateral cooperation, so as to bring greater benefits to the peoples of both countries. He expressed hope that both sides would maintain exchanges between their legislative bodies, strengthen communication between Beijing and Cairo regarding policies and state governance experience, and enhance mutual understanding.
Speaker Gebaly said that Egypt believes that under the leadership of President Xi Jinping, China will achieve modernization with Chinese characteristics. He also expressed Egypt’s willingness to expand practical cooperation with China in various fields and to strengthen multilateral coordination.
