China will increase friendly cooperation with Iran: Xi Jinping

Chinese President Xi Jinping held a meeting with Iranian President Masoud Pezheshkian in Kazan, Russia on October 23 afternoon. In the meeting, Xi Jinping emphasized that no matter how the international and regional situation changes, China will unswervingly increase friendly cooperation with Iran.

Xi Jinping said China supports Iran’s efforts to safeguard its national sovereignty, security and national dignity, make continuous progress in its own economic and social development, and improve good-neighborly and friendly relations with neighboring countries. China is willing to promote good relations with Iran based on the principles of mutual support, non-interference in internal affairs, adherence to the basic rules of international relations, and protection of legitimate rights and interests.

Xi also said that his country wants to work together with Iran to strengthen exchanges and cooperation in various fields, accelerate the healthy and stable development of the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, and create greater welfare for the people of the two countries. He also congratulated Iran for participating in the BRICS Summit as a full member for the first time.

At that time, Masoud Pezeshkian said that China is the most important cooperation partner of Iran. The overall strategic partnership relationship between the two countries and cooperation in various fields is satisfactory. Iran will work with China to implement bilateral cooperation plans and deepen bilateral cooperation in various fields, including connectivity, infrastructure and clean energy. This will not only be helpful for Iran’s development process, but will also prove favorable for regional peace and stability.
The Iranian president also thanked China for helping his country officially join the BRICS cooperation system.
