China Strongly Opposes U.S. Arms Sales to Taiwan

China has reiterated its firm opposition to U.S. arms sales to the Taiwan region, stating that Beijing’s position on the issue remains clear and consistent.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun made the remarks on Friday while responding to questions from journalists during a regular press conference in Beijing.

Guo said that China has consistently opposed the United States selling weapons to Taiwan and emphasized that Beijing’s stance on the matter has always been clear and unwavering.

He urged the United States to adhere to the One-China principle and to honor the commitments made in the three China–U.S. Joint Communiqués, particularly the August 17 Communiqué.

The spokesperson further stated that Washington should stop arms sales to Taiwan and take concrete actions to safeguard the stable development of China–U.S. relations as well as maintain peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait.
