Recently, China’s Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs released the 15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the National Agricultural Produce Origin Market System. The plan states that by 2030, China will establish a modern agricultural produce origin market system that is aligned with industrial development, connects production with demand, operates efficiently and smoothly, and is integrated both domestically and internationally. The system will help ensure the supply of agricultural products and continuously strengthen the capacity of smallholder farmers through improved services.
The agricultural produce origin market system provides a wide range of services, including commercial distribution, processing and warehousing, logistics and distribution, price information, and brand marketing. It effectively connects production with consumption and constitutes an important component of China’s agricultural product market and circulation network. It is also a fundamental condition for ensuring the stable and secure supply of agricultural products.
