The death toll among women and girls in the Gaza Strip has reached an alarming level amid the prolonged conflict, according to UN Women. The agency reports that, during the war, an average of around 47 women and girls were killed each day.
In its latest report, UN Women noted that although a ceasefire came into effect in October 2025, violence has not fully subsided on the ground. Six months on, casualties continue to mount, further deepening the humanitarian crisis.
Data indicate that more than 38,000 women and girls were killed between October 2023 and the end of 2025. Sofia Calltorp, head of humanitarian action at UN Women, said the number of female casualties in the recent conflict is significantly higher than in previous ones, underscoring the severity of the situation.
However, the agency added that a lack of disaggregated data since the ceasefire has made it difficult to determine the exact number of women and girls killed in recent months.
Local sources report that more than 750 Palestinians have been killed since October, while four Israeli soldiers have also died during the same period. Israel and Hamas have continued to blame each other for violating the ceasefire.
Meanwhile, UNICEF warned that the rate of child casualties in Gaza remains deeply concerning. At least 214 children have been killed over the past six months, according to the agency. UN Women also estimates that nearly one million women and girls have been displaced, leaving them in dire humanitarian conditions.
